Alabama AIA Awards Gala

Last night, I photographed the Alabama AIA (Architects) Awards at B&A Warehouse. Stacy and her staff did a fantastic job getting 200 hungry Architects feed and ready for the award program. Cocktail hour music was performed by Clive Easton (a jazz legend).

This is my second year working for AIA and I can't wait for next year. The awards dinner is always so much fun and they're so cool to work for.

Lamar and Michelle Get Married

This afternoon, Julie and I went to a wedding as guests. Lamar (JAMM Entertainment) and Michelle were married at Gabrella Manor here in beautiful Birmingham.

I'm not used to coming to a wedding as a guest. It was kind of weird just sitting in the audience and enjoying the ceremony.

Congressman Bachus

Last night I photographed Congressman Spencer Bachus at Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham for the Deep South Jewish Voice. His talk included his personal thoughts on our new president, the economy and the state of the Republican party now.

Bridal Show Recap

This weekend we did two bridal shows - Gabrella Manor and The Southern Bridal Show.

We meet so many nice folks. It was great to put a face to email address' and phone calls. I'm looking forward to doing the paperwork on the weddings we signed up this weekend.

P.S. Sorry about the horrible picture quality (from my phone).

Meet Aaron

We just got back from Aaron's Bar Mitzvah in Opelika, Alabama.

Yes, I said Opelika. Aaron and his family were the perfect hosts. Everything happened at the Marriott Grand National Lodge in Opelika. Rabbi Appel came from Mississippi to do the ceremony and celebrate.

It was so cool to be a part of this celebration. I look forward to spending more time in Opelika.

Papa John Bowl Street Festival

Last weekend I photographed the Papa John Bowl Street Festival featuring pep rallies from Rutgers and North Carolina State. Although the highlight for many was the Rueben Studdard performance.

The organizers keep putting on a bigger and better event each year.

Where art thou?

OK, long story time -

Everything was going just peachy, I was elected as the President for AWEP (Alabama Wedding and Event Professionals), I was taking tons of portraits of wonderful clients and filling those Christmas orders. Then my mother calls and says, "your father is in the hospital get on a plane."

Anyone out there ever get this call? Not pretty, huh?

Aron gets on a plane and meets me in Los Angeles. We visit dad in the hospital. I've said it before and I'll scream it again, hospitals are no place for a sick person! Anyway, dad gets better and we take him back to their house. Amazing what real food and a sanitary environment will do. In the next week he got better in leaps and bounds from what they did to him in the hospital. Meanwhile, I'm trying to keep up with Christmas orders and bringing up the new website (more on that later).

Thank God, dad's much better and he could come back home but something else happened that is so cool! Have I told you how wonderful my clients are? I received emails and calls of concern and support. Only once did I get hassled, everyone was so understanding. I have the best clients!

OK, back to our regular scheduled program ...
