Liz's Bat Mitzvah

I photographed Liz's Bat Mitzvah today.

We're up in Gaithersburg, Maryland to photograph Liz's Bat Mitzvah. Liz was great, her speech was funny and her hebrew was great. After the ceremony we went into the social hall for the party and there was eating and drinking and dancing and eating and playing and ...

We ended the day with a Havdallah ceremony (welcome in the new week) and then there was more eating and ...

I was told about a great place for fresh crab, so on adventures we go!

Dave Matthews Band in Birmingham

We just got home from the Dave Matthews Band Show.

Two hours and Forty Five minutes! It was wonderful!!!!!!!!!! The boys were in a playful mood, lots of solos, lots of Dave scatting and doing his Dave dance. Jeff (Saxophone) even played two tenors at the same time during Jimi Thing. RaShawn (Trumpet) was so on! They were all having a great time up there even when Dave totally messed up the lyrics at the beginning of Jimi Thing, Carter just powered thru it and smiled the whole time.

By the way, I'm sorry about the photo quality. Please understand that cameras are a big no no at concerts nowdays.

Dave Matthews Band Tour Update

I know you need to know this - the Dave Matthews Band plays in Birmingham in less than 20 hours.

A Jew A Christian A Muslim ...

Sounds like a punch line, well it is. Tonight, I photographed the Comedy Show at Canterbury United Methodist Church sponsored by Canterbury, Temple Emanu-El and Birmingham Islamic Society.

Take a Muslim Comic - Azhar Usman, a Christian Comic - Nazereth Rizkallah and a Jewish Comic - Rabbi Bob Alper and you've got the "Building Bridges in Birmingham" comedy show.

It was cool to see three distinct groups (cultures) laughing together and getting a better understanding of each other at the same time.

Meet Marina and Carl

I just finished photographing Marina and Carl Engagement pictures.

These two are adorable together. Carl absolutely adores Marina and it's pretty obvious. I can't wait until their wedding this July. Yes, It was worth it coming up to New York for this couple.

The Mets

Whenever I go on an adventure during baseball season I always try and see a local game. This trip - The Mets.

They have a brand new stadium and a very talented team. Last night, they came out hitting and did well for the first three innings then the game kinda coasted until the eighth when the Padres came back alive. Unfortunately for the Mets they lost 6-5.

Oh, this is the first time I've ever been freezing cold at a ballgame, usually I'm sweating to death.

New York City

As part of "Frequent Flyer Month" here at Barry C Altmark Photography, this week I'm in New York City.

It's dirty, old, crowded and full of energy, I love this place! Today, I went on adventures to Cooney Island via Brooklyn. Cooney Island is just old and dirty and rundown.

Tonight, I go to the Mets game in their brand new stadium and tomorrow is the work day.

The last photograph above is the view from my 19th floor hotel room.

Gretchen's Portrait

This morning I photographed my friend Gretchen for her new website.

We had a great time marching thru downtown Homewood. Sometimes it's really cool to turn the table (camera) on someone who's used to doing the photo.

Where's Barry?

I'm here in our nation's capitol - Washington DC

This trip begins what I'm calling my frequent flyer month. I'm here for a portrait this week, next week I'm in New York City for an engagement portrait and then the next week I'm in Maryland for a Bat Mitzvah.

So, I decided to play after getting town yesterday (the portrait is this afternoon). Y'all know by now that when it comes to government I'm a bit of a cynic. But when I stood before the capitol even I was awed.

Queen Latifah

Last night, I photographed Queen Latifah at the Alys Stephens Center here in beautiful Birmingham.

Nice lady and very very talented.

Annie's Bat Mitzvah

Yesterday morning, we photographed and videotaped Annie's Bat Mitzvah at Temple Emanu-El.

Annie was great, very confident and also a happy camper. The lunch was hosted and catered by Annie's Grandmother Roz. Roz as in Creative Cusine. Somebody counted 21 desserts!

Everyone had a great time.

Baseball Opening Day

The 2009 Baseball Season Starts Tomorrow

I love baseball! The season starts monday and my beloved Los Angeles Dodgers are playing the San Diego Padres. I get to see my first game of the season next week in New York. I'm either going to see the Mets vs Padres or the Yankees vs Indians.

I'm so excited!
