How did you spend the holiday?

Where did you go? Our family went down to Pensacola for the holiday. Aron and I rode our bikes all over the place. We rode to the beach, on the golf course (by moonlight) and even into the wildlife reserve.

Why Pensacola, that where Julie's parents live. It's supposed to be sunny and beautiful all the time. On December 25th it was sleeting and the temperature was close to freezing.

Oh well, we went to our favorite haunts for oysters and beer. All in all we had a great time.

Helping the Homeless

Each Christmas my family wraps gifts in Brookwood Mall for Birmingham Hospitality Network. BHN's sole purpose is to help the homeless get out.

We work with folks from different churches and congregations. So next year if you need your gifts wrapped, come to the food court at Brookwood Mall in Birmingham and do yourself and the homeless a favor.

Lunch with a new Friend

Yesterday I had lunch in old town Helena with Gretchen. Gretchen is a fellow photographer who runs Gretchen B Photography in Helena, AL.

We met at the David Beckstead class last month. She's not only very talented but she's got a great sense of humor. Best of all, she laughs at my jokes.

It's so cool to just sit down and have lunch or coffee and bullsh** the afternoon away with a new friend.

Christmas Card I Received Today

This is the Christmas Portrait for Integrated Systems, Inc. this year.

I know because I took the photo last month. Integrated Systems is one of my corporate clients and they have a great sense of humor. Sometimes folks just take the holidays too seriously.

It's nice to see someone in the corporate world relax.

December in Alabama

It's December 15th and we're eating lunch outside without jackets on.

You're freezing your butts off up north and getting wet out west, but this afternoon it's bright and sunny. The trusty Weather Channel says we might have snow in the morning. Huh?

Say it ain't so

Somebody tell me this is a bad dream. Roger Clemens and Eric Gagne? Please tell me the Mitchell Report is bogus. Roger may go down in the history books as the best pitcher of all time and Eric is (in my opinion) the best closer there is (especially since John Smoltz went back into the regular line up).

Most of you know and now all of you know that I am a huge baseball fan. Not just my beloved Los Angeles Dodgers, I love the game of baseball. I can watch a baseball game any baseball game and be a happy boy. I even go to Regions Field to watch the Birmingham Barons play. You've really got to be a fan to sit through minor league ball.

What's wrong with mandatory drug testing? Mr. Selig, what are you afraid of? These guys are getting millions of dollars to play baseball. Life is tough, be men and stay clean!

Rant over

Burke Harvey & Frankowski

Yesterday was attorney day here at the office. Most of the attorneys from Burke Harvey & Frankowski were in to have their publicity portraits taken for the new website.

Julie Silver

Meet Julie Silver. She was in Birmingham Sunday as part of her national concert tour.

It's just Julie and her guitar on stage. Her concert was great, I look forward to seeing her again.

Who's next ?

For the past two days I've been working on a project for Temple Emanu-El in Birmingham. They're having their 125th Anniversary Celebration and I'm taking the photos for the Memory Book.

I feel like a fast food restaurant - Can I help the next in line? Yuck, I like my wonderful brides and corporate clients.

By the way, the top photo is Rabbi Scott Hausman-Weiss and the bottom one is Rabbi Jonathan Miller.

In case you're counting today is the 5th candle.

Happy Hannukah

Tonight is the first night of Hannukah.

We light the candles, say the blessings, eat jelly donuts and latkes. Rumor has it that Julie is making her world famous Matzo Ball Soup. I hope this rumor is true.

Sorry that I haven't been posting a lot in the past week. Wedding season is over until January and most of my Corporate clients are not big on being blogged about.

I'll have lots of photos from this weekend and hopefully I'll get my act together and post more.

Meanwhile, Happy Hannukah!
