Nathan's Bar Mitzvah

Last friday and saturday I photographed Nathan's Bar Mitzvah. This was a weekend event. We started on friday morning at Temple Beth-El and did dinner friday night at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Saturday night was party time at the Pinetree Country Club.

Nathan is the most non-assuming kid I have met. He's not loud, doesn't call attention to himself, seems to just enjoy watching other folks enjoying the party.

Make your own Shofar

On Wednesday, September 17th I photographed Rabbi Yossi Friedman getting ready to teach his class on Shofar making for the Deep South Jewish Voice. Every year when Jews get ready for Rosh Hashannah we have a list of things that need to be done. This year Rabbi Friedman with Chabad decided to teach a class on making a Shofar. The Shofar is a horn from a kosher animal usually a ram's horn. The Shofar is used during the morning Torah service and is most people's favorite part of the holidays. Everyone left the class with a working Shofar.

I love my job.

Meagan and Matt get married

On Saturday, September 13th I photographed Meagan and Matt's wedding. We had a great time!

It was especially nice to work with so many wonderful vendors. There was Trish with the Tutwiler (hotel) where everyone got dressed and we took the family and bridal party photos. Then we went to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church for the ceremony. Took some more pictures and then rode in a classic Rolls Royce from Coats Vintage Cars to Park Lane by Kathy G in Mountain Brook. Andy with Kathy G also did the gorgeous flowers. The reception's music was provided by Chris with JAMM Entertainment and he had the place a jumping. The video was shot by Main Street Productions.

Meagan was gorgeous in her custom tailored wedding dress all the way from New York City. They danced then they smooched then they danced the night away.

I'm back

I've had a busy two weeks, lots to tell you about and I apologize for being MIA for two weeks.

I've finally gotten some time to blog. It's a sunny cool morning here in beautiful downtown Mountain Brook, Alabama. I've got my trusty coffee at my right, my phone at my left and my Macbook.

Let the games begin ...

9/11 seven years later

I've been trying to figure out what to say on the seventh anniversary of 9/11 and I found this poem written by Mother Teresa. I found the poem on Becker's blog (one of my mentors and awesome photographer) www.beckersblog.com and decided I need to share this poem with y'all.

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful you will win some false friends and true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, some could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Jake's Bar Mitzvah

Saturday, we photographed and videotaped Jake's Bar Mitzvah at Temple Emanu-El.

Nice kid, wonderful family and a great Bar Mitzvah!

Rain Rain

Isn't technology wonderful sometimes? I'm cowering at Zoe's (wonderful food) waiting for the storm to pass and blogging, how cool is that?

I've got lots to report on - great Bar Mitzvah Saturday, awesome marketing class last night and more stuff.

Meet Caitlin and Raynor

I photographed Caitlin and Raynor this afternoon. They are the cutest couple. They're so into each other. The "Painted Ladies" project is progressing quite nicely. Just a couple of more folks and I'll have enough to put it together.

Meet Amberleigh

Yesterday was a busy day in the studio. Amberleigh came in last night and we had a great session. Her body is a canvas and she plans on filling it up with tattoos. Every tattoo has a story.

Meet Lisa

OK, meet Lisa's first tattoo. Yesterday, I continued photographing my latest art project "Painted Ladies."

The project well debut at my gallery show in November at the LJCC Art Gallery. The basic premise is pretty easy, I'm exploring women's tattoos and why they're there. Every tattoo has a story and enquiring minds need to know.
