Art Show Time

Get your calendars out!!!! The Art Show season is upon us.

I have been invited to show my brand new series - "The Old City and Beyond" at the Levitte Jewish Community Center Gallery for the month of May 2007. Also, Artwalk wants me to exhibit this series in September and even cooler, URJ (Union of Reform Judaism) wants me exhibit this series at the Biennial this December in San Diego.

I love it when a plan comes together!

Connor's Senior Portrait

Greetings from Atlanta. Aron and I are here for a cool gig. Today (well yesterday I guess) I photographed Connor's Senior Portraits.

Hmn, can you tell what Connor's passion is? I thought you'd get it. Drums, he can spend days pounding away.

I think it's major important to highlight the kid's passion in their senior portrait. They'll never be this age again.

30 days and counting ...

On March 23rd (one painful month) we get to see the first Dave Matthews Band concert of the year.

I'm going to the annual WPPI (Photographers) Convention in Las Vegas and to my surprise and delight DMB is coming to the MGM Grand Stadium on March 23 and 24th.

Now, I ask you, what can be better? Vegas, Photo Convention, my family coming to play with me and Dave. Oh my!!!!

Gone Fishing

Today was the first day of the B.A.S.S. Classic fishing Tournament here in beautiful Birmingham.

My assignment - get photos of the anglers and audience. Nothing on the stage or in the normal press area. Just my kind of assignment.

These guys are like rock stars to their audience. Although this isn't my kind of sport it was interesting.

David's Bar Mitzvah

Saturday morning I photographed David's Bar Mitzvah.

It seems that February should be renamed "Bar Mitzvah Month." Three so far this month. I'm still doing a lot of portrait work this month (corporate and private). My corporate clients don't like to be on my blog until after their advertising work is out in the open.

Oh well, anyway the caterer for Saturday's Bar Mitzvah was Out takes in Homewood. If you haven't been to their restaurant you should make your way there. The marinated chicken sandwich and salad sampler is to die for.

What a Day

This is Alex. I photographed and videotaped his Bar Mitzvah at Temple Emanu-El Saturday morning.

What a sweet family. His parents (Michael and Stacy) are just so cool and his grandmother is a good buddy of mine. You hear (or see) me bragging about Roz's food all the time. Well, in honor of Alex's Bar Mitzvah Roz went to work and put together a gorgeous lunch in Temple Emanu-El's Abroms Hall.

I can't wait to edit Alex's video of the ceremony. His hebrew was great and he read and spoke with confidence and pride.

What a Night

Saturday night, I got into my tuxedo (yes, I do own a tux) and covered the first annual Crystal Ball for the UAB Diabetes Center.

The ball was at the Birmingham Art Museum and dinner was catered by Katy G. and Bloom took care of the decorating.

The title sponsors and hosts for the evening were Sheryl and Jon Kimerling. 400 people came out to raise more than $300,000 for the new UAB Diabetes Center.

I love being part of something so important.

It's really really cold out there

I did Jamie's Bridal Portrait today out at Samford.
Oh my, it's cold out there. We're talking 39 degrees in the sun.

Jamie was a trooper. No whining or anything, just begged for her jacket at times.

Meet Brynn

I met Brynn and her mother, Jani this morning to do their "Mommy and Me" portrait.

I love the "Mommy and Me" portraits. Babies are so cute at this age (newborn to 3 months old). They don't have any agenda and they're just cute at being themselves.

Tomorrow, it's Jamie's Bridal Portrait. I get to do the coolest stuff!
