Bar Mitzvah Expo

Last night I exhibited at the Second Birmingham Bar Mitzvah Expo in Ted's Garage. It was a good time to show off my Bar Mitzvah stuff as well as network. I met some really cool folks like Carlin (Creations by Carlin) and Tonya with Norton's Florist and of course I got the chance to hang out with Geoff (JAMM Entertainment), Betsy (Betsy Marks Design) and Ronnie (CAM Video Productions).
This expo was really special because all the proceeds went to Magic City BBG here in Birmingham. I'm always a sucker for a good cause.

Southern Bridal Show

We (Tina and I) just got done unloading everything from today's Southern Bridal Show at the Birmingham Civic Center.
There were so many brides there! What a turn out, I got to meet a bunch of y'all this afternoon. I appreciate when you introduce yourself at these shows.
The next bridal show is January 11th and it's usually 2-3 times the size of today's. My feet are tired already!!!!!!

LeRoi Moore died today

I just logged on to the Dave Matthews Band website to check out the Los Angeles leg of the tour. This is what I saw -
LEROI MOORE 1961-2008
08/19/2008
We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.
For those of y'all who know me well know how devastating this is to me. This is a very sad day.
Orlando

It's wet, it's windy, it's miserable and Fay still hasn't come to town.
UCF (University of Central Florida) is awaiting the 2009 freshman class and Hurricane (Tropical Storm) Fay. We got Aron moved into his dorm room this morning and now we sit and wait. The university closed down until after the storm, so I get to sit and wait. I wonder what's going on at Disney. Oh well.

Aron Update

OK, I told you it was a busy day. For all you "what happened to Aron" fans, I finally got him to slow down long enough to take the above photo. He's pretty much healed up, still a little trouble with the head but basically cool for college.
He's not a happy camper about the photo, but that's what you get when you don't cooperate.

Laura and Todd's Wedding
The bride was beautiful, the day was beautiful, the church was beautiful, the flowers were ...
We photographed Laura and Todd's wedding on Saturday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Vestavia Hills. After the ceremony we headed over to the Greystone Country Club to party.
This wedding was really cool for two reasons. First, Laura and Todd are so cute! Second, I photographed Todd's sister Stephanie's wedding back in 2004. It was great to reconnect with this family and meet Stephanie and Steve's two children.
High School
Up at 6 am, on the scooter at 7:15 am, in my classroom at 7:45 am, I feel so well grown up.
My first day as a high school teacher was quite educating. I get to my classroom to find that my room has changed and of course my new room is on the other side of the school and my kids are waiting on me. Rush up to the new room ...
You guessed it, the room is locked and there's no projector or screen (sigh).
We all (20 kids) huddled around my Macbook for my first lesson as a high school teacher.
Sounds like a drag? Hardly, I'm so excited I can't wait for tomorrow. What's wrong with me, oh yeah I'm a teacher.

I'm a high school teacher
Tomorrow morning I start on my next adventure. I've been invited by ASFA to teach "Introduction to Photography." Each weekday at 8:00 am sharp I teach my class.
High school will never be the same ...

Photographer Lunch

Last Wednesday a group of Birmingham Photographers got together for lunch.
OK, not so dramatic, but really really cool. You see folks in our profession don't always play nice with each other. So, just 7 photographers getting together to have lunch is really cool.
David Shirk put the lunch together at Marsha Perry's house. Marsha was the most gracious host (hostess?). From left to right - David Shirk, Me, Frank Carniggio, Jerrod Brown, Arden Ward, Christian Michael and the most wonderful Marsha Perry.
Rumor has it we'll do it again, oh boy !!!!!
